Churches in Thurrock     Horndon-on-the-Hill Methodist Church

Who We Are

The Methodist Church is situated on the main road in the historic village of Horndon-on-the-Hill in South Essex. Methodism started here with one lady walking from the neighbouring   village of Orsett to distribute Christian tracts, which lead to meetings in house groups and the eventual construction of a simple wooden chapel.  Our present church was built in 1890.  We also have a more modern Church Hall that is used for a variety of church and village activities. One of the most important events in our Church life is to take a full and active part in the annual village Feast & Fayre that takes place during the last Saturday and Sunday in June.

We provide warm fellowship in the name of Jesus Christ and worship centred on the power of the Holy Spirit in our small friendly church.  Our aim is to spread the Good News and lead lives that reflect God’s love for everyone.
